The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its investigation into the teacher appointment corruption case in West Bengal, calling another key figure associated with former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee for questioning. Partha Sarkar, also known as Bhaja, who resided in Chatterjee's house and served as his main aide, has been summoned to appear before the ED on Wednesday.
The agency has requested Bhaja to bring along all his assets and documents related to bank financial transactions from the past 12 years. According to ED sources, Bhaja has been implicated as a middleman in financial dealings between expelled Trinamool student leader Kuntal Ghosh and Minister Partha Chatterjee, as revealed in a recent charge sheet.
The ED claims to have gathered valuable information from ineligible candidates in the latest recruitment corruption case, and Bhaja's political involvement, including winning a councilor seat in the Calcutta Municipal Corporation elections, is also under scrutiny.
